User Story Import
Already have your user stories written in a document or spreadsheet? Instead of generating them from a BRD, you can import them directly — TestFlair extracts your stories exactly as written, without inventing or rewriting anything.
Direct user-story import is a Beta feature. If you don't see the Import User Stories button, it isn't enabled for your account — contact your workspace admin or [email protected].
When to Use Import vs. Generate
| Use Import when… | Use Generate when… |
|---|---|
| Your stories already exist in a file and you want them kept verbatim. | You have raw requirements (a BRD) and want AI to derive stories. |
| You're migrating from another tool. | You're starting from scratch. |
See Generate Your First Tests for the generation flow.
Importing User Stories
The import flow starts from the Create Project screen:
- Fill in your project details and attach the file(s) that contain your user stories.
- Click Import User Stories (next to Save). The tooltip reads: "Save project & import user stories from the uploaded file(s)."
- In the import dialog, upload a file that already contains user stories — any supported requirements format (PDF, DOC/DOCX, RTF, TXT, XLSX, or CSV).
- Optionally tick Also generate test cases for the imported stories to kick off test-case generation right after import.
- Review the estimated cost, then click Import User Stories.
TestFlair extracts the stories as-is — no AI rewriting — and creates your project populated with them. If you opted in, test cases are generated for the imported stories as a follow-up step.
Import and optional test-case generation consume Flairs. The dialog shows the estimated cost before you confirm.
